Bracket Group C

Winner Bracket - Battle of the balls at its best

The second day of the group stage was opened by the current third in the table: Corteva against the Czech team Cowana Gaming. The two teams were highly motivated and were tied for a long time during the first round. Only in the last few minutes it became apparent that Corteva pressed more bales, while Cowana lacked supply. In addition, Corteva's stacker (Nico) did a great job: out of 41 bales, 40 were delivered via the conveyor belt and only the ridge bale was pushed in at the bottom of the barn door. Also the second round remained exciting: Nico showed a rare triple stack (3 bales on top of each other on the conveyor belt), but it remained captivating until the last second. With only 13 points difference, the American team Corteva prevailed. If Cowana could have challenged for a third round if they had opted for a drop or two?
The second match in the bracket was Astragon vs Krone. Favored by most was probably the team of the machine building factory Krone, however Astragon prevailed with a better Multiplier. Both teams pressed 36 bales, but the overall strategy showed a different picture. The second round started similarly: Astragon with the better firstbale, Krone lagging behind. In the course of the game, Krone found back to its old strength and provided a valid reason for the third round with the better multiplier and thus 4 points per bale difference. And here the ball was rolling. Team Krone showed with the help of a multiplier of x2,7 and the Bale Multiplier (Drop) a delivered score of 114 with only 3 bales. While Team Astragon made a few minor mistakes, which cost time and ultimately resulted in fewer bales being pressed (final score 37), things continued to go well for Team Krone. The victory clearly went to Maschinenbaufabrik Krone with a final score of 969 : 760 points.
Corteva and Krone now played for the first place in group C. Krone repeatedly gained a good advantage with the delivered grain, Corteva countered with a larger number of bales. In the end, this tactic worked out and 43 bales were enough to outplay Krone's better multiplier and 36 bales. In the second match, the timing of the drop selection probably decided victory and defeat. While Corteva quickly chose Silo Closed, Krone waited for the Grain Multiplier until shortly before the end and was able to push the multiplier up. Even though Kronie only managed 31 bales this time, they were enough to win the match. Consequently, it went to the next round, in which it was clear that both teams wanted the first place in the group. The match was overall very balanced, which made it captivating until the end. The battle for the better multiplier remained a draw this time, but Corteva again delivered a full 42 bales to the barn (in contrast to Krone with 38).

Loser Bracket - Short Processes

Here the Czechs from Cowana started against Team Astragon. The German team surprised with a daring tactic: a small drawer and the right choice of drobs should help to score more points than the opposing team - a tactic that aims at combo points. Unfortunately, this tactic didn't work out and Cowana scored 1,000 points. The second match was very well-balanced, with suspense right up to the last minute. Cowana earned the victory by countering the combinations, even if not every ball was delivered appropriately.

And so the match for the runner-up of group C started. And also here the teams showed why they made it to the group stage. The two teams could not gain an advantage either by drop selection or by tactics. In the end, both teams pressed 39 pads, had an identical multiplier. Krone only set itself apart by the way the bales were delivered. While Cowana didn't deliver one bale at all and two bales at the bottom, Krone delivered only one bale there and was able to take care of all of them. The second round seemed like a stacker battle. 6 points difference at firstbale. On the side of Krone Baletastic and Balepressive points. But in the meantime there was a ratio of 26:5 pressed bales for Cowana. Compared to Corteva's previous matches, which were always close to 40 bales, these two teams finished the round with 33:34 pressed bales. The second place was won by Krone by using the combination points and some drops.
