Bracket Group D

Winner Bracket - close matches, teams on equal footing

The first match of group D was opened by the match Hörmann against Pöttinger. The clear favorite was Hörmann, who also won the first round. As usual, the team showed confidence in handling the Anderson bale wagon and set the pace with a 23:8 bale difference in the meantime. Whether the Austrians were just getting into the swing of things? It seemed so. In any case, in the second round Pöttinger again chose Herbicide to counter Hörmann's Transport Company. Due to combination points and a better multiplier, the attempt finally succeeded. However, both teams actually used to show more than 30 bales – it went to the third round in any case. The teams played down their tactics. The Superdrop was chosen by Hörmann, Bottom Boost, but could be countered by Pöttinger. Nevertheless, the victory went to Hörmann, because overall the better bale handling, as well as drop selection and use could be observed here.

Who would be the next opponent was decided in the following match: Manitou against the Swiss team of mYinsanity. Whether it's the youthful age of the players or simply more mature tactics, the guys from mYi were a tractor's length ahead when it came to grain fueling and bale handling. While Manitou secured the Superdrop and thus at least managed to score a combo, the Swiss stayed consistently on their level and took the win by more than 100 points (29:39 bale ratio). In the second round, both teams were tied for a long time. The thrill set in especially in the last few seconds. On the Manitou side, one more bale came in with 3 bales. However, the player chose too steep an angle, so that the round went narrowly to the Swiss team.

Team Hörmann was already in the starting blocks and was just waiting for the Swiss. This was reflected in the start and also in the firstbales (114 : 92 points). A possible explanation for minor mistakes on mYi's side could have been connection problems of one player, but it was still enough for some "entertainment interludes". Hörmann did not take any consideration, gained a multiplier advantage of x2.2 : x1.8 and in the meantime a bale advantage of 29:21 pieces. At the end of the match, both teams delivered 36 bales (even with the same distribution: 4 down and 32 up) and Hörmann prevailed. The second match looked already different: the teams started the match better, the scores from the firstbale were close and the drop selection was identical. The match was even until the last two minutes. Here, as so often, it came down to the stackers. Bale after bale was put on the line. This round ended with a narrow victory for mYinsanity, who were able to deliver 4 bales in the last seconds. So it went into the third round, which started with a lot of speed. Nervousness was visible on both sides, minor mistakes crept in, costing a little time here and there. It was a head-to-head race until the last second - literally! Because the final picture of the match showed a tie in points, which meant that the number of bales delivered was the next factor. Here, Hörmann had delivered one more bale in the last second. Victory for Team Hörmann!

Loser Bracket - the last place for the finals of the World Championship

The matches of the last bracket were heralded by the teams Pöttinger and Manitou. We already had this clash in the second match of the finals at HeroFest. At that time the Austrian team Pöttinger could win against the French. It seemed to be the same from the middle of the first round: Manitou was dropping too few grain, eventually resulting in a multiplier ratio of x2.4 : x1.6. With the Superdrop bottom boost, Manitou tried to somehow overturn the immense score difference. However, Pöttinger was lying in wait and secured additional counter points. Overall, Team Manitou gave up more bales, but couldn't quite keep up. The first round was won by the young Team Pöttinger. In the second round Manitou allowed less mistakes, secured for example a better firstbale and in combination with the 8 minute drop gave away some bales with 27 points each. Also, in this round the multiplier was even, so Manitou secured revenge for a third round with a higher number of bales and the better drop choice. Motivated by the tie, the action continued. In the third round both firstbales were relatively even, but in the Multiplier this time Pöttinger did not pay attention and there was a difference of 2 points per bale. The flow of the two teams seemed consistently not quite fluid compared to the previous matches. After the 15 minutes of play, Team Manitou had more bales and more points.

So in the last match, Manitou played mYinsanity once again. The firstbales were again relatively even, although with lower scores, 97:104 points (Manitou:mYinsantiy). The Swiss showed minor stacking errors, but regained their composure as the match progressed. Also this round was close until the last two minutes. Manitou had to admit defeat because of the better bale handling. The second round, on the other hand, seemed more even. It was a neck-and-neck race. Manitou surrendered grain later, but turned the multiplier in their favor. Both teams chose the currently most played Transport Company as their Team Perk, but they were late delivering bales to the barn compared to other matches. It wasn't until minute 3:30 that the score started to rise steadily. If Manitou had delivered just one more bale, they would have earned a third round. But as it was, one of the last bales fell off the conveyor belt and cost the team second place in Group D. The Swiss team mYinsanity moves on to the final with the seven other teams.
